Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream
The stretch of time between the appearance of the first PSL (pumpkin spice latte) in September and Thanksgiving is pumpkin’s time to shine. I’ve written here before about the increased interest in other fall flavors, but pumpkin is still king. I know some people think pumpkin spice is “basic”, but I am not one of them. Pumpkin (and all squash) is delicious and pumpkin with warm spices is even better. But obviously a PSL is more about the spice (and sugar) than actual pumpkin.

Simplest Chocolate Mousse
Like many Americans, I am obsessed with the Great British Baking Show. It is a balm for the soul. I love how it is a reality competition, but the winner only gets bragging rights, and a cake stand. The contestants are all kind and supportive of each other. I hope the newer versions, both British and American, can keep the spirit of the show. I enjoy it so much more than all the intense, cut-throat cooking competitions that are everywhere these days.

Discovering your child has food allergies is hard. As a new parent, I was aware food allergies were a possibility. I even know several people with allergies, so it was definitely front of mind. Best-Ever Apple Crisp
According to the calendar, fall began last week with the equinox. According to major coffee chains and supermarkets, fall began at the start of September, when tons of pumpkin spice flavored items began appearing. (It’s actually gotten a little out of hand. Have you ever taken a vacation in early December? It’s a great time to travel, because its after the Thanksgiving rush. There are lots of good deals on hotels and flights.
